The Lumen Gentium Award is bestowed upon a Parish member who has demonstrated by their life, service, and ministry, a participation in the mission of Christ Jesus and the Church. The award will be bestowed at St. Dominic Catholic Church located at 5919 Ingram Road in San Antonio on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 6:30pm, and the Archdiocese choir will be performing. This year's nominee from St Joseph is Monica Lozano. She has attended our parish all her life; made her First Communion, Confirmation, and was married here at St. Joseph. She began as a teacher’s assistance in our Faith Formation Program at the age of 15, and by 18, was teaching kindergarten and first grade. When our parish center opened in October 2018, she began teaching First Reconciliation and First Communion. She has been teaching for 31 years. Thank you, Monica, for teaching our young children, and may God bless you and your family. Congratulations!!
We are sad to say goodbye to Katherine Knodell, our lovely early morning cantor, but we are excited to welcome our newest cantor Andrea Briones. She is a music teacher at San Antonio ISD and a member of Mastersingers. She has a degree in Music Education, started singing as a university student at Baylor, and for several years at her church in Laredo. When you see her, make sure to give her a warm welcome.
This past weekend someone tore out the poor box from the wall in the vestibule and broke into out Restoration donation box at the back of the pews. Do not put donations into the restoration box for now. Until repairs are complete, you can leave your donation at the Parish office, or donate during collection at Mass, just label your check on the memo and/or label the envelope. A police report was filed.
Fr Norman recovered from COVID and was cleared to preside over Mass again; however, Fr Joseph recently became sick and is now recuperating. In an abundance of caution, the Deacon and Eucharistic Ministers will continue to help in administering communion. At this time there are no new protocols, restrictions, or mandates, but due to the surge of the Omicron variant, Parishioners and guests are encouraged to continue practicing safety protocols such as wearing a mask, sanitizing hands, and staying home if you're feeling ill.
